Castle Air is pleased to announce the commencement of a contract to provide operations support to Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust.  The contract includes the maintenance and engineering of the charity’s AW169 helicopter G-CRWL and the provision of a back-up helicopter G-KRNO.  Castle Air has agreed a bespoke solution with Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust to maximise availability of their helicopter, whilst providing a cost-effective solution with all maintenance undertaken locally in Cornwall.  Castle Air has obtained extensions to its existing CAA approvals to cover HEMS (Helicopter Emergency Medical Service) operations with the AW169 and AW109SP plus Continued Airworthiness Management and Maintenance of the AW169.  These AOC and Maintenance approval extensions allow Castle Air to bring a new approach to the HEMS market in the UK and also allow the Company to provide operations and maintenance services for the AW169.

Ross Bunyard the Castle Air Managing Director said “We at Castle Air are very proud and excited to be supporting Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust through the maintenance and engineering of their helicopter.  We have wanted to support our local air ambulance for a long time and we are very grateful to the charity for this opportunity, which is allowing us to expand our capability at Liskeard and employ additional maintenance staff.  We are looking forward to supporting Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust in their provision of the air ambulance service for the people of Cornwall.”

Tim Bunting, Chief Executive of Cornwall Air Ambulance Trust, said: “We are delighted to be supported by Castle Air as the charity’s helicopter operations partner. Castle Air specialises in AgustaWestland aircraft engineering and as a Cornish business they provide Cornwall Air Ambulance with a local support base from which to carry out the regular and ongoing maintenance required to fly and saves lives 365 days a year.”
